Vue d'Esprit was created in France in 1992 and version 1.0 was completed until 1994. The 1995 1.2 version was the first public release of Vue and was sold as shareware through specialized books and the nascent net in France, it takes up two 1.44 MB floppy disks.
Vue d'Esprit 2 was published in 1997, offered by e-on Software and supplied on CD-ROM. It included new vegetations, 16 sample scenes, numerous objects, over 250 high quality procedural materials, and over 35 atmospheric presets.
Vue d'Esprit 3 was released in 1999, retaining the same interface but full of new features like animation and a new render engine with soft shadows, reflections and depth of field support.
Vue d'Esprit 4 was published in 2001 and Vue 4 Professional in 2003, both with the new blue inteface that we all know.
Vue 5 Esprit was released in 2004, Vue 5 Infinite and Easel in 2005 and Vue 5 xStream in 2006. It's important to note that Vue xStream was formerly known as xFusion plug-ins.
Vue 6 Infinite and xStream were published in 2007, both with the new gray interface, while Vue 6 Easel, Esprit and Pro Studio came with the normal blue interface.
Vue 7 Infinite, xStream, Esprit, Pro Studio and Complete were released in 2008 and Vue 7 Pioneer open beta was released for free the same year. Vue 7 Pioneer supersedes the former Vue Easel and it's the base of the thematic packs Fairy Tale, Fantasy and Science Fiction released in early 2009.
In 2009 e-on Software ships Vue 8 Digital Nature Solutions. Vue 8 Infinite and xStream for CG Professionals, Vue 8 Esprit, Studio and Complete for 3D Artists and Vue 8 Frontier, Pioneer and thematic packs for 3D Enthusiasts.
In 2010 e-on Software ships Vue 9 Digital Nature Solutions, but you already know them.
In 2011 e-on Software ships Vue 10 Digital Nature Solutions.
In 2012 e-on Software ships Vue 11 Digital Nature Solutions.
In 2013 e-on Software ships Vue 2014 Digital Nature Solutions.
In 2015 e-on Software ships Vue 2015 Digital Nature Solutions.
In 2016 e-on Software ships Vue 2016 Digital Nature Solutions.
